Hello.

A few years ago I joined the West Horsley Horticutural Society because I was fairly new to gardening and keen to learn more. I have recently joined the committee of the Society.
I would like to encourage residents of the Horsleys to meet here online to compare gardening tips, post timely gardening reminders and discuss gardening.

As a Society member I will post information about the events and talks that the Society holds, and hope that you will come along.
I first became encouraged to grow vegetables by seeing the displays at the Society's Summer and Autumn shows. After a couple of seasons I thought I would try my hand at showing. I have enjoyed entering, and have had some success in some classes at the shows.
It's not all vegetables though. There are classes for all garden plants as well as homecrafts, and children's catogories too.

My wife and I have a vegetable plot that has taken over the whole of our back garden, and we are now looking for more room to grow our own food.

We have also joined the Grace and Flavour project that is in the process of setting up a community garden at Dean Place in Ripley Lane. Have a look at their web site at www.graceandflavour.org for more information.

I would welcome everyone to share their gardening interests here, especially now as the new season is just about to get going.

Today we had what we consider to be the first sign of spring in our garden. The frogs are beginning to gather in the pond in the lead up to spawning.
Has anybody else seen any frog activity yet?

David.
